But there are a few basics that I find SO much easier in the crockpot. Beans (there's a pinto recipe on this site that's crockpot, and I also cook black beans & really any dry beans that I'm going to cook in the crockpot)and every once in awhile I make oatmeal in the crockpot (2 c rolled oats (or steel cut, but I'm cheap LOL) 6 c water, a little salt, in the crockpot on low overnight) it makes a much "creamier" consistency of oatmeal than making it on the stove. And means breakfast is ready & waiting when we wake up in the morning. There are also recipes for crockpot oatmeal w/ dried fruit & such in it that would probably be good but dh doesn't like anything sweet, and DOES really like the plain oatmeal so I haven't been mean enough to make it such that he wouldn't like it.

That said, I've found quite afew crockpot recipes that are tomato based (various soups, plus things like "lasagna") and again, have never made them because dh doesn't eat tomatoes (and in general crockpot works better for supper than lunch because of the long cook times).Sweetpeashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05688283236426618677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052913174344096737.post-19842783968863886682008-04-11T00:32:00.000-04:002008-04-11T00:32:00.000-04:00do you find lots of crock pot recipes that work as...do you find lots of crock pot recipes that work as a vegetarian? I've never owned one because we've been veg for years, but it always seems like such a good idea!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09920960178906851812noreply@blogger.com
